What you will learn
- Describe what a respirator is and distinguish an air purifying respirator from an atmosphere supplying respirator
- Identify the hazards and atmospheres that require respiratory protection, such as an oxygen-deficient confined space or airborne particles during mixing
- Identify what may make an employee unable to use a respirator, including facial hair that breaks the seal between the face and the facepiece
- Describe proper use, maintenance, and storage, including what a change schedule tells you, the facepiece signals that mean leave the area, and the order of the emergency action plan
