Fire Safety
Prevent fires and respond safely if a fire occurs
What you'll be able to do
•Identify the three elements a fire needs and how removing any one prevents or stops a fire
•Recognize common workplace fire hazards, from electrical faults and flammable liquids to blocked exits and accumulated combustibles
•Apply prevention practices such as proper storage, good housekeeping, and keeping ignition sources away from fuels
•Decide quickly whether to attempt to fight a small fire or evacuate and pull the alarm
Who it's for
Employees in any setting where fire is a risk, including production, warehouse, kitchen, and shop environments. A useful foundation for anyone before they take the more specific fire extinguisher course.
What changes on the job
•Fewer fire hazards left in place because employees recognize and remove them
•Flammables stored correctly and exits kept clear
•Sound judgment about when to fight a fire versus evacuate immediately

How is this different from the fire extinguishers course?
This course is about preventing fires and knowing how to react when one starts. The fire extinguishers course focuses specifically on selecting and operating an extinguisher. Take fire safety first for the bigger picture.
How long does it take?
About 15 minutes, self-paced, well suited to onboarding and annual safety refreshers.
Should employees always try to put a fire out?
No. The course stresses that personal safety comes first. Only very small, contained fires should ever be considered, and only when you can do so safely with a clear exit behind you. Otherwise, evacuate and call for help.
